Deborah Burt

After leaving school Deborah attended a Foundation College at her Local Art College.  Her love of all things equine, however, led her away from a career in art and to a variety of equine roles from groom, through stud hand and stud secretary to racing journalist in the UK and overseas.

In 2005, whilst recovering from illness, her interest in art was rekindled and she began to sculpt.  Initially the obvious subject matter was equine and by 2006 she had been spotted by the Society of Equestrian Artists (SEA).  Later that year she was awarded the SEA Devon Art Week Scholarship and began to exhibit with them at their London and Newmarket show in 2007.  She is still actively involved with the SEA and is currently their Honorary Secretary.

Deborah is equally talented at sculpting dogs and has been commissioned numerous times to do so and is currently involved in an ongoing project sculpting of the hounds of the South Dorset Hunt.  Her pleasure in working in three dimensions is evident to see in all her work which is unfussy and beautifully accomplished.  Several pieces from her limited editions are available from the gallery and Deborah is also available to undertake bespoke commissions.
